What we want to achieve

Sustainability

We want to play a leading role in building a climate-resilient and sustainable economy, and having a positive impact on the environment.

Our sustainability strategy is driven by five goals that bring to life where and how we can make this happen.

Our strategic goals

Our measures

We have set ambitious, yet achievable, measures of success, which contribute to achieving our strategic goals and keep us accountable.

Our measures are:

  • Zero serious injuries

  • 30% women in leadership by FY27

  • Engagement (eNPS) ≥40

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS) ≥55

  • Net zero carbon by FY50

  • 75% revenue from sustainably certified products by FY26 (in our manufacturing businesses)

  • 70% waste avoided, recycled, and/or reused by FY26.

Being transparent

We are committed to being transparent about our progress and our performance, so our learnings can be shared and used by others.

We report our emissions to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and we update our sustainability performance to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) each year. We are also pleased to be members of the DJSI Australia index.

Our annual reports give not only financial results, but also non-financial metrics that are important to us and our stakeholders. We address our safety, environmental and people-related aspects and performance of our business in our FY23 Annual report (PDF), which covers the performance of our operations across all markets and all of our direct operations.

Embracing global goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are adopted by New Zealand, Australia and all United Nations member states and support strategies to improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. Whilst we support all the SDGs, the work we do at Fletcher Building is aimed at the following eight.
