People + Culture

About us

We aim to create a high-performing culture where our people have high levels of engagement and enjoy coming to work each day.

A great culture and highly engaged people correlate strongly to business success, and we actively measure and influence engagement to ensure we are continually improving year on year.

Our values

Our people are guided by our purpose and four values:

·         Protect
·         Be Bold
·         Customer Leading
·         Better Together

These values help us create the kind of workplace that delivers great results, in the right way.

Inclusion and Diversity

Fletcher Building believes in a workplace where differences in gender, gender identity, age, race, nationality, sexual orientation, physical ability, thinking style and background are welcomed and included.

It’s important that all our people can access the opportunities available and can bring their ‘whole self’ to work. We will put ourselves in others’ shoes, learn from each other and speak up when things don’t seem right.

Some of our activities to support inclusion and diversity are:

  • We provide training and educational support for our people through our Employee Educational Fund.

  • Our people-led action groups – Lōkahi, Tātai, the Equality Network Group, and FB Pride promote inclusion and mentoring across our business.

  • Our Māori and Pasifika leadership programme, Whakatupu-Iatupu is developing a pipeline of Māori and Pasifika leaders.

  • We offer Gender Affirmation Leave of 10 days paid leave for people transitioning and provide guidelines to help people leaders and colleagues support those transitioning.

Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan

Reconciliation is an important part of how we build an inclusive, respectful, and culturally connected workplace and community.
Since launching our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we have made meaningful progress in strengthening relationships, deepening cultural understanding, and embedding reconciliation across our business.

Key achievements include identifying the Traditional Custodians at each of our 93 sites, building partnerships with First Nations businesses and communities, implementing Acknowledgement of Country protocols, and creating opportunities for cultural learning and engagement across the organisation.

We are proud to celebrate significant events such as National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, while continuing to listen, learn, and grow.
In 2025, we reached an important milestone with the launch of our Innovate RAP, reinforcing our long-term commitment to meaningful action and creating positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and businesses.
