Fletcher Building appoints Charles Bolt as General Counsel and Company Secretary

Fletcher Building has appointed Charles Bolt to the position of General Counsel and Company Secretary, on the retirement of Martin Farrell.

Charles joined Fletcher Building in 2002 as corporate legal counsel, and is currently General Manager Group Legal. Prior to joining Fletcher Building he spent eight years at the New Zealand law firm Bell Gully, followed by four years at NZX Limited. Charles holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Victoria University of Wellington.

Martin Farrell will retire from Fletcher Building in October 2013 following the annual shareholder’s meeting. Martin has worked for the Fletcher group for 33 years, having originally joined Fletcher Holdings in 1980, and then as head of the tax function in Fletcher Challenge. He has been in his present role since 2000.

Fletcher Building chief executive officer Mark Adamson welcomed Charles to the executive team and paid tribute to Martin’s contribution over many years.

“It’s great that we have been able to find a successor for Martin from within the company, and having worked with Charles for a number of years I am delighted to have him join the executive team. Importantly, Charles has worked closely with Martin since he joined Fletcher Building so we will have great continuity.

“On behalf of the board and executive team, I would like to wish Martin well in his retirement which, after 33 years, is truly deserved. Martin has provided great counsel to the board and executive team over many years, and his contribution to the success of Fletcher Building has been significant”, Mr Adamson said.
