Big wins for Fletcher brands at CCNZ Gala Awards

Fletcher Construction Specialist Brand Brian Perry Civil is celebrating big wins at the recent Auckland Civil Contractors Gala Awards, where other BU's and projects also received recognition for their achievements.

The 17 June event was held at Shed 10 on Queen's Wharf and was a night dedicated to celebrating people and project excellence in construction across Auckland.

The AB Equipment People Awards saw Brian Perry Civil's (BPC) Site Engineer Henry Wakefield walk away as the winner of the Young Engineer of the Year category.

Henry's nomination and win of the award praised his 'thirst for learning' about the industry and taking on a leadership role within his team on a number of complex projects.

BPCs Senior Foreman Kevin Connolly was also a finalist in the Outstanding Individual of Year category, with BPC Risk & Quality Manager Rosey Addenbrooke picking up the Hynds Women in Contracting Award.

Rosey has spent 16 years in the construction industry with more than half of those with Fletcher, moving into the Specialist Brands team two years ago. She has been touted as a standout performer, who makes sound decisions, is an expert hand in resolving problems, and exceptional at closing out a number of considerable projects.

"I feel honoured to have won this award," says Rosey. "I was so surprised when they called my name – there were five finalists in my category and all of them were equally deserving."

On the same night, the Hynds Construction Awards awarded BPC's Franklin Road Sewer Stormwater Separation Project the top prize in the $5million - $20million category, with BPC's Artillery Drive Shaft Foundation Project also a finalist.

Construction Infrastructure/BPC's Silo 9 Project (for GBC Winstone in Portland, Whangarei) had the tough task of being a finalist in the Large Project category alongside Waterview Well Connected Alliance, who won for their work on the successful Waterview Tunnel Project.

"The Civil Contractors NZ Excellence Awards are highly valued in our industry, both in terms of the people and project categories. We have a great track record of success in these awards and it's a fantastic way to recognise the individual and team effort that goes into the successes we enjoy as a business," says BPC Auckland Branch Manager Matt Findlay.

"We are thrilled for Henry and Rosey, and also for Kevin Connolly who was recognised as a finalist. The Franklin Road team beat off some tough competition in their category and that really speaks to the quality of the Customer Leading effort the team is delivering.

"We had senior Watercare reps join us at the awards and they are equally pleased that the project is seeing due recognition for the collaborative team effort that is going in. It has led to some interesting conversations about 'what next' for this successful team with our client, and we expect we'll see further unique opportunities head our way on the back of this success."
