Fletcher Construction to Build University of Canterbury Regional Science and Innovation Centre

Fletcher Building Limited announces that its subsidiary, Fletcher Construction, will construct stage one of the University of Canterbury’s Regional Science and Innovation Centre.

Due for completion in March 2017, the 20,000 square metre building will house research laboratories, teaching and support facilities for five science departments and schools. It has been designed to be earthquake resilient and is the first of two buildings planned for the university’s Regional Science and Innovation Centre.

Fletcher Construction Chief Executive Graham Darlow said the company is delighted to be working on another landmark building for Christchurch.

“We are excited to bring our specialist knowledge to this project being currently involved in new science and technology buildings for two other New Zealand tertiary institutions. We are committed to the redevelopment of Canterbury and are looking forward to beginning work on another important building for the region.”

Other major Fletcher Construction projects in Canterbury include the Grand Central retail and commercial development, the Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct as well as the completion of the EQR Canterbury Home Repair Programme and infrastructure work as part of SCIRT.
