Fletcher Building's Current State of Operations in Christchurch

Fletcher Building today advised that its businesses operating within the Christchurch region have sustained damage after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake this afternoon.

Damage has occurred at the Winstone Wallboards plant, PlaceMakers Antigua and Cranford Streets, Laminex's branch in Waltham and significant damage has been reported at two main Fletcher Construction sites.

There have not been any reports of employee fatalities or injuries and all businesses have been closed to allow people to return home and check on their families.   The company continues to monitor the situation as more information becomes available.

Chief executive Jonathan Ling says, "Our thoughts are with the people of Canterbury at this difficult time."
